ABOUT THE CHAIR Mission - Organization - Contributors Mission In today's volatile economy, Canadian and Quebec businesses face considerable challenges. They must confront intense competition arising from the globalization of markets. They must adopt the technological innovations that permit them to function more efficiently and remain competitive. They must consider the effects of their actions on the stakeholders involved in their sphere of influence. In an environment such as this one, it is important to ensure that the institutional and legal setting encourages continued economic success on the part of businesses, by allowing them to meet and adapt to the challenges imposed by modern society. Business law serves as a central hub and a general framework for the institutions that serve to structure the organization and activities of businesses. This is why it is of paramount importance to emphasize and focus on the quality of business law as well as the means by which to improve it. In this context, the Chair was created in 2005 with the mission of developing the training and research capacities of the Faculty in the field of business law.
